WHAT TO DO IN

Lanzarote

Timanfaya National Park

Also known as the Fire Mountains, it is considered one of the best examples of volcanism in Spain. This protected natural area is the result of volcanic eruptions that took place in Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736. You can contemplate this lunar landscape with more than 300 volcanoes and abrupt formations, including the Islote de Hilario, the Volcanoes Route, and the El Diablo restaurant, one of the most impressive works of art in the world, where you can cook using the heat of the volcano. An essential visit to discover the past of the land of volcanoes.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca, one of the main enclaves in the south of the island of Lanzarote, is an old fishing village that still maintains its essence and is characterised by its warm temperatures all year round. Amongst its must-sees are strolling around its marina Marina Rubicón and enjoying its varied entertainment offer with a large shopping and leisure area with shops, restaurants and bars. In addition, its incredible beaches of light sand, which contrast with the reddish colour of the mountains, and its coves invite you to take a refreshing dip in its crystalline turquoise waters.

It is a perfect place both to relax and to explore the natural and cultural charms of the island of Lanzarote.

Papagayo Beach

Located within the Ajache Natural Park, in the extreme south of Lanzarote, it is the most popular beach on the island of Lanzarote. It is totally protected from the wind by cliffs and stands out for its golden sand, crystal clear waters and gentle waves. Papagayo Beach is the ideal place for those looking to enjoy the sea and nature in a practically virgin space and for diving and snorkelling lovers. Its incomparable beauty, together with the impressive environment that surrounds it, means that it is usually at the top of the list of the best beaches in Spain..

La Geria

We cannot talk about Lanzarote without referring to its oenology and its unique wine-growing landscape. The vineyards of La Geria, as unique and different as Lanzarote itself, are planted in volcanic soil. After the eruption of Timanfaya between 1730 and 1736, the fertile land in the centre of the island was covered by volcanic ash. The farmers transformed the volcanic ash into a fertile cultivation field for vines and as a result we find this landscape where a singular and unique grape is grown, the volcanic malvasia, highly appreciated in the wine world for its balance and quality, which produces the unmistakable wines of Lanzarote. A unique and singular landscape, a space full of harmony and beauty that certainly worth a visit.

Mirador del Río

An impressive balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and one of the most representative architectural creations of the artist César Manrique. Located at the top of the Risco de Famara, at an altitude of 400 metres, the Mirador del Río has one of the best panoramic views of the island of Lanzarote. You can see the islands and islets that make up the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park, including the eighth Canary Island, La Graciosa. At its feet, at the base of the cliff, the reddish colours of the salt mines of El Río, also called Guza, the oldest in the Canary Islands, stand out.

Museum LagOmar

An oasis in the centre of Lanzarote where lava itself has been used as a building material. The LogOmar Museum, also known as the House of Omar Sharif, is one of the most emblematic buildings in Lanzarote. A marvellous construction sheltered among the remains of an old Lanzarote quarry for the extraction of volcanic rock that integrates art and nature. During the tour, formed by caves, tunnels and terraces, you can lose yourself among its different rooms-caves such as the kitchen, living room or bedrooms until you reach the centre of its beautiful garden, which has a central lake surrounded by palm trees and is surrounded by lush vegetation.
